Tic... Tic... Tic... Scotland With just hours to go before polls open on Thursday at 0600 GMT to determine if Scotland will remain a part of the United Kingdom or not, the rest of the world awaits the outcome. Record numbers have registered for the referendum -- 97 percent of eligible voters -- and turnout is expected to be very high with officials saying it could be around 80 percent. "It's an event that has energised the interest in Scotland like nothing else in politics. This is something absolutely unprecedented," said Magnus Gardham, political editor of Glasgow-based newspaper The Herald. For most of us members in OP the outcome will have little or no effect but if you like to go on record as to how you think the referendum will play out here is your chance. Just state in your comment either YES Scotland will break away // or // NO Scotland will stay united in the UK and we will See how close our results tally with the actual outcome. |

007 of Her Majesty's Secret Service has gone on record as a "YES", however, I fall into the NO category that Scotland will over come her differences and remain a part of the UK.

It will be close - the winning vote will get 50 or 51 percent. I think it will be No, they'll stay apart of the UK. Curious side note for you to research in your spare time (what's that?!?!?) If they stay a monarchy - who would it be? A return of the Stuarts????

James the 6th of Scotland (a Protestant Stuart) who became James the 1st of England and his heirs were Kings and Queens of both countries simultaneously. Catholic Stuarts and anyone else of royal linage and Catholic are prohibited by law from ascending the throne. However there is that Australian descendent of the Plantagenents. Who knows the future?????
